The Potomac Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is dedicated to keeping the Penn State spirit and energy alive & well in the Potomac River regions of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Based in Frederick, MD, we aim to provide opportunities for social engagement, community service, and networking among Penn State alumni, friends, and fans living or working in Frederick County, MD; Washington County, MD; Loudoun County, VA; Berkeley County, WV; &/or Jefferson County, WV. Your involvement contributes directly to the Chapter’s success and we invite you to join us. WE ARE PENN STATE!

Which Chapter should I join?

You can visit and/or join any chapter and as many chapters and other Alumni Interest Groups as you'd like. We have territories as a way of reaching out to potential members that may have moved into the area, just graduated, or for whatever reason haven't connected with their local Penn State Alumni Association Chapter. Periodically chapters get a list of local Penn Staters' email addresses from the Penn State Alumni Association. That's where the territories come into play. Chapters are only given lists of Penn Staters in their territories. Please note that lists come with a host of rules and safeguards to protect your information.

Alumni Interest Groups

AIGs also give alumni a way to interact and network with folks with similar interests after they leave Penn State. For more information visit Interest Groups on the Penn State Alumni Association website.

The most prominent AIGs in Maryland are African American Alumni Organization and Professional Women's Network.
